“No to Hazing, Yes to Happy Ending” by PMGEN ERIC ESCOSIO NOBLE

"No to Hazing, Yes to Happy Ending" is the main point that the Director of the Philippine National Police Academy, PMGEN ERIC ESCOSIO NOBLE, wants to emphasize and hopes to achieve in his period in the academy. It is with dedication and passion for preventing hazing inside the academy and promoting a purpose-driven culture. The Director has very laid-out plans and programs to ensure his objectives are accomplished.

The Director directs everyone to be involved in his mission to prevent hazing and maltreatment. He urges his staff, tactical officers, and cadets to implement the programs that the Director wants to be done inside the academy to prevent hazing.

The Director's solution revolves around PUSO, which stands for Parents Upperclassmen Standards Open-lines. The Director wants the cadet's parents to be involved in their son's and daughter's journey inside the academy and guide them to the right path and success. Upperclassmen should treat their underclassmen as family and encourages servant leadership in dealing with their juniors. Standards of discipline should be practiced to uphold the cadets' respect and integrity and empower them with self-control and tolerance. Open lines so that cadets, parents, officers, and staff are transparent with each other and create a harmonious relationship revolving around a higher degree of understanding and cooperation.

These programs are already well-versed because they have already been applied to other academies, especially in the US Coast Guard Academy, where they train great officers without hazing or maltreatment. The Director wants the PNPA to be like the US Coast Guard Academy and endorse change and develop the cadets to be professional in their approach to all the people around and also wants the cadets to be well trained in writing because it is unacceptable for a future officer to commit mistakes outside the portals of the academy, especially in the real McCoy, for it is a matter of a legal case's advancement or its dismissal. He wishes cadets to be fluent in speaking, for a leader must be able to move his followers to what he is trying to convey and therefore have a unified direction to their desired goals. The Director has come to this institution with a well-thought-out plan and understanding of his assignment.

He had done his research well and applied what he learned as a successful officer, leader, and supportive father. He will become a great and very effective director. He is there to encourage our family and is open to communication with our parents. And I can tell that he is willing to change the academy for a better one and is unafraid of the changes that will happen because if it's suitable for the academy, he is ready to take the risk to change it. I can envision that he is family-oriented and wants the cadet never to feel alone. I assert that he wants the cadet to think that he is with his family whenever and wherever inside the academy. I am confident that the Director will have it in the bag and that he is a great leader.
