Discussion of PCOL REX ARVIN T MALIMBAN

     The Marawi Siege liberators are battling the terrorist group that obliterated Marawi City. These liberators put up a brave fight until the bitter end to free the city from the terrorists. To retake the town, many people gave their lives. PCOL REX ARVIN T MALIMBAN is one of these warriors; he is a good leader who displayed outstanding bravery and heroism in the face of armed adversaries, where he played a significant role as the leader and commander of the SAF alongside other officials.

      PCOL MALIMBAN spoke about the Marawi Siege and his experiences there. He talked about his past battles with the foes and the issues they ran into. According to him, it was the most complex operation he had encountered while in service, and as the leader and commander of SAF, it takes work to have casualties on his troops every day. It is important to have critical and strategic thinking. 

     I realized this as PCOL MALIMBAN talked about the devastating event in Marawi City. In every operation, it is essential to consider the workforce, resources, and coordination with other agencies to make it effective and successful. Planning is also essential when attaining objectives in our operation. We must know our subordinates' capabilities, spot their strengths and weaknesses, and, most importantly, train them as a team. PCOL MALIMBAN also discussed the importance of ICS during the siege.

      The delegation of duties in every section/unit to make the operation fast and easy became vital in most cases, such as delegating specific persons with expertise and experience to win the war and reclaim the city of Marawi. PCR, Intelligence and Investigation, Liaison, Logistics, Admin, all these sections worked and responded together to accomplish our armed forces' mission. It plays a significant role in coordinating and communicating military and police forces to prevent any friendly fire and casualties caused by miscommunication and misleading information. 

     As we graduate from this academy and become fresh lieutenants, the experiences offered by PCOL MALIMBAN are a massive benefit to us, especially in directing and leading our team in situations like the operation carried out by our armed forces in Marawi City. We cannot predict when the same issue may arise. Therefore we should be prepared with the knowledge and guidance we learn from the seminar speaker, which aids us in addressing this kind of situation and experience.
